How Home Visits Work: What to Expect

Home visits are one of the clearest differences between Direct Primary Care and a typical office-based practice. The AAFP names home-based medical visits as one of the enhanced services the model makes possible, precisely because a practice isn’t bound by insurance reimbursement rules that make house calls impractical almost everywhere else.

When a home visit makes sense

Most members request a home visit when getting to the office isn’t realistic — an illness that makes travel difficult, a mobility limitation, or a situation where being seen at home is simply the more sensible option. Availability depends on your location within our service area and the specific medical need.

How to request one

The same way you’d reach your care team for anything else: text or call. There’s no separate portal or scheduling system to learn — a home visit request starts as a conversation, not a form.
